DPH - Discover Prehealth

Have you ever...

  • Thought about becoming a doctor or other healthcare professional?
  • Considered getting involved in medically-related research?
  • Wondered what it’s like to be Prehealth/Pre-med at MIT?

Then the Discover Prehealth FPOP is for you!

The Discover Prehealth FPOP is a program organized by MIT Prehealth Advising to provide incoming freshmen an insider’s perspective into health professions and related opportunities and resources at MIT. Participants in Discover Prehealth will gain firsthand exposure to medicine, and health-related research through meeting with MIT Prehealth Advising, MIT faculty and students, and local physicians. Not to mention you’ll be getting an early introduction to MIT and Boston!

Please note: This program is geared towards exploration of health professions and learning about Prehealth resources and opportunities; it is not a requirement for applying to medical or health profession schools.

What Will We Do?

We will experience the exciting intersection of health, technology, and service by meeting with practicing clinicians at one of Boston’s top hospitals, visiting MIT’s renowned research facilities, and interacting with faculty integrating investigation and cutting-edge ideas and technology to solve some of the world’s greatest health challenges. The program will also include in-depth discussions with current MIT Prehealth students pursuing careers in healthcare. Participation in this program will provide you with a special glimpse into the lifestyle of a health professional, as well as the knowledge and tools needed to navigate the Prehealth track at MIT and beyond. Plus, you will also meet 20 new friends and enjoy fun activities together in Cambridge and Boston!

We expect students to participate in all activities throughout the week. If you have conflicting commitments (e.g. sports, family gatherings, interviews), please consider before applying.
