This page summarizes what you need to do when you arrive at MIT.
MIT will provide you with your official MIT ID card when you arrive. Therefore, we ask that you submit a photo of yourself no later than Thursday, June 15 using the MIT MyCard site: http://mycard.mit.edu. Visit the site and click 'Submit ID Photo 'link. The specifications for the size and quality of photo are provided on this site as well.
If you do not follow the instructions provided on the MyCard site, a temporary ID card will be issued. You will then have visit the MIT Card Office when you arrive on campus to have your photo taken and receive your permanent ID.
Your Orientation will begin with Kick-Off on August 27, 2017. See the Orientation schedule for complete details.
You will register for your classes with your departmental advisor, so you should arranged to meet with the Academic Administrator of your major department prior to your arrival. Your Administrator will tell you who your faculty advisor will be and provide you with information on the registration process. Registration Day is Tuesday, September 5, 2017. Your advisor will advise you on your class selection. Transfer students do not pre-register for classes. Complete registration instructions can be found on the Registrar's website.
