ATIC (in Room 7-143) offers various technology tools that have proven helpful in alleviating or preventing some of the symptoms of RSI:
- Stretch Break Pro is a break and exercise software application for Windows or Macintosh provided by MIT. The software reminds you to take periodic breaks from your computer and provides stretches and ergonomic information. It includes a module with ergonomic workstation setup diagrams and tips. Launch the application and select Ergo Hints.
- Keyboards and Mice - for individuals seeking an alternative to the standard input devices.
- Speech Recognition is an assistive technology that can be helpful if typing becomes difficult.
MIT's Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Department provides ergonomic advice, consulting, and online tools to assist you in setting up your workstation:
- Computer Ergonomics Online Training - offers an online training tool to do a self-analysis and learn more about how to set up your computer workstation
- Ergonomic Evaluations, conducted by professional ergonomic evaluators, can be scheduled by calling the EHS Office at 617-452-3477 or sending email to email@example.com
